Letterpress Printing

Letterpress printing uses a three-dimensional type or plate to transfer ink to paper leaving a rich, deep impression.

Firstly, a digital design is transformed into metal or polymer plates. Plates are mounted on a base and placed in a press. The design is registered, and the press is prepared to have a perfect print. Later, the press is inked with a hand mixed ink which is prepared following the Pantone formula guide. Each color in letterpress is printed separately and needs its own plate. After all final adjustments, each paper sheet is fed through the press one sheet at a time. Usually, the best results are achieved on heavy cotton or other tree-free papers. After the printing process is completed, the paper is trimmed to a final size controlling the quality of the print on each sheet.

Hot Foil Printing

Hot foil printing is a printing technique that uses heat and pressure to transfer a design into the paper. Similar as in letterpress, digital designs are transformed into metal plates which allows to transfer foil onto paper. Hot foil printing allows to achieve rich colors and/or metallic effect leaving a tactile impression.

Blind Impression

Blind impression is a letterpress printing without ink. A tactile impression on the paper allows one to see an image or texture with light and shadows. A more impressive effect could be achieved using transparent hot foil printing technique.

Blind Embossing

Blind embossing is a printing technique when the image is raised up out of the paper. The paper is placed between two plates (one metal and one polymer) and the pressure is applied. It squeezes the fibers of the paper, which results in a raised area in the paper. It is seen as one of the most sophisticated printing techniques and used to grab attention.
